The star has donated the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound honor prize money to the MVT, which operates to preserve the Britain's independent concert spaces.

Fender was given the prize on mid-October as his third album People Watching was declared the best record of the last 12 months.

He has decided to donate the funds to the MVT, in recognition of the crucial part small stages had in his beginning days.

"I couldn't be pursuing this success if it hadn't been for all the gigs I played around the region, and beyond, when I was beginning," said Fender. "These venues are renowned, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, more than 150 of these venues have ceased operations – about 16% of the total UK scene.

In the last year, top acts like Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by applying a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which goes to help local stages.

Sam Fender also joined in, collecting more than £100,000 on his recent tour to help numerous grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The donation assisted venues that were confronting possible closure due to difficulties arising from floods, blazes and family tragedies, as well as permit problems, conflicts and sound issues.

Other venues received monetary aid in modernizing amenities and gear that positively impacted artists and audiences.

"The concept that funds from shows in big venues supports the independent spots, where it all starts for artists like me, is just logical," Fender has stated.

Fender is not the first artist to contribute his honor winnings to worthy causes.

In Pulp won the prize in 1996 for their album the album, frontman Jarvis Cocker stated that the act would donate their prize money to the charity the charity.

That year, musician she divided her bounty among multiple organizations, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"I also donated a £1,000 to my local community centre, to their gymnastics program, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they lacked new equipment," the artist told outlets.

Previously, Ezra Collective donated their funds to the youth organization that developed their band, in addition to other grassroots music organisations.

Also the 1994 recipients M People contributed their prize to a MS organization after a acquaintance was found to have the disease.

"Winning was sufficient," remarked artist Small. "The cash was the bonus but we didn't need the extra, because we had the honor. So our success affected the lives of others."

Last week, the MVT shared it had protected two local spots in that region, by bringing them into local control.

One venue in the city and the second in that location were purchased under the Own Our Venues scheme, which is funded by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who acquire "ownership units" in the buildings.
